Jamie Foxx Rumoured To Take On Spawn Reboot
Rumours on the web have surfaced that there will be a Spawn reboot and Jamie Foxx will take on the mantle as Al Simmons, the reluctant soldier of the Devil. Now the script is almost complete, it looks like Hollywood will be set to start putting the wheels in motion and actually start casting the thing.
Here's what Todd McFarlane had to say.
“I continue to write a page here and there. As I’ve said before, I’ve got a guy waiting on the sidelines who’s an Academy Award-winning actor who phones every three weeks going ‘Todd, where’s the script? Where’s the script?’… He came out to the office, he gave me his pitch, I gave him my pitch, and he’s like ‘Fine, let’s do your gig.’ The pitch I gave him was that we could then do, like, ten of these for the next ten years, and he wouldn’t have to be 22 for the rest of his life."
Whether or not this rumour will come to fruition or not remains to be seen, however if it is the case. I'm excited.

I think it's worth it to check it out and see if it would work. Todd Mcfarlane was really interested in trying to reboot spawn in the movie industry and wanted to do multiple movies. I think it could really work. Not enough movies are really ambitious enough to try multiple movies in a universe the way that disney really seems to be getting star wars. It can be done both for benefit of audience and industry. Don't make the movies too dependent on one another but kinda independent other than the typical backstory like the way the Bond movies work. Which most of those really were either a hit or miss.

I'm OK with this
Gritty reboot of a gritty comic franchise. It makes sound financial sense. I love the Spawn series, and I think Jamie Foxx has distanced himself enough from his sitcom days that I am confident he can play the role effectively. My only concern would be Jamie Foxx's disapproval with being the scarred-up freak that Al Simmons is supposed to be.

Honestly, reboot is becoming that ugly word. Every time I hear it spoken in reference to a movie, game, whatever...I end up just wanting to pass on it. This possibility of a new Spawn...it needs to just go away. I'm cool with Jamie Foxx being a would-be Superhero, but FFS...do an IP that hasn't been done already.

Bring Spawn back, it's a YES for me, Jamie Foxx comes off more as a comical kind of personality but if he's got the skills to play a serious character this is his chance.
