Christopher Nolan

Christopher Nolan

Christopher Nolan is one of the best cerebral directors working today, each of his stories work so intricately and work on so many levels. I think Nolan's use of camera work is exquisite and knows how to get the very best out of his actors, I think Nolan's only downside is filming action scenes, apart from that I can't fault him. Nolan has worked from low budget movies to huge blockbusters. Nolan seems to be getting better and better.

Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese

Scorsese is a man who needs no introduction. He has been working creating movies for over 40 years. Throughout the years Scorsese has made very few clangers. Scorsese is regarded as one of the best working directors of his generation, perhaps even the best ever. From multiple Oscar wins and acclaim from his peers. At the ripe old age of 70 I think he's got many more masterpieces under his belt.

Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino

Considering Tarantino used to work at a movie rental company he's not done too bad for himself. After only his first movie ever everyone started to take note of the man named Quentin Tarantino. He is a man who is incredibly innovative and a breath of fresh air in the movie industry. It was only his second movie when he won his first Academy Award, with the masterpiece Pulp fiction. From there he was quickly regarded as one of the most original writers in Hollywood.

Darren Aronofsky

Darren Aronofsky

I would consider Darren Aronofsky as quite an experimental director, having created the brilliant Pi, I believe Mr.Aronofsky certainly found his niche. Going from strength to strength with every movie he's made, It's become apparent that he is certainly going to cement a legacy for himself. With the eagerly anticipated Noah, I think this might be Aronofsky's time to shine.

Danny Boyle

Danny Boyle kind of came out of nowhere with the cult hit Trainspotting. The Manchester raised Brit certainly made a bold statement with his next few movies and finally won an Academy Award for the brilliant Slumdog Millionaire. I think Danny Boyle could certainly do anything he puts his mind to, it will be exciting to see what the next few years can bring!

Paul Thomas Anderson

Paul Thomas Anderson has one of the most encyclopaedic knowledge of film and film technique, the 42 year old director is certainly only at the very infancy of his career with so much more to give the film industry. Anderson has been hailed as one of the most exciting directors to come along in many years. Influenced by brilliant directors like Martin Scorsese, Orson Welles and Stanley Kubrick, Anderson has certainly started to leave his mark in the film industry. Considering Anderson never went to film school he learned his craft by watching movies and being a natural talent.

David Cronenberg

David Cronenberg

Watching Cronenberg movies makes me happy. He's so diverse and original it makes every movie never seem one and the same. The Canadian born film maker often in his movies uses the psychological intertwined with the physical. I think one of the greatest things about Cronenberg is that he is constantly challenging himself and never seems to be satisfied with the mundane.

David Lynch

The American filmmaker often uses his own unique style to his films. He uses the surreal and visual elements that often seem quite disturbing. Sporting an epic quiff Mr. Lynch transitioned from creating short films to full feature movies.

Frank Darabont

Frank Darabont has lived an incredibly surreal life, Born in france in 1959 Darabont was born in a refugee camp and was brought to America as a young child. Darabonts first movie was met with critical acclaim and notoriety, The Shawshank Redemption is highly regarded as one of the best movies ever made. Which is a fair assumption, from there Darabont kept the same standard throughout all of his movies.
