This is the movie that pioneered Tarantino into critical acclaim, his first time directing a movie and he creates one of the best movies of all time. Perhaps only Tarantino could do that one. Reservoir Dogs is a simple jewellery heist gone wrong and each of the surviving criminals start to suspect one of them is the police informant. An amazing movie with a superb cast, such a classic that should be on the top of everyones heist list!
It's not everyday you get Robert De Niro and Al Pacino acting in the same movie together, do you? Well aren't we lucky. In fact De Niro and Pacino only share a couple of scenes together, this is two behemoths at their absolute acting peaks. Heat is a great heist movie with bumps and turns along the way, it's worth the watch even just for Pacino and De Niro.
Ocean's Eleven, I hold heavy in my heart. I watched this numerous times with my grandad, we loved it. Sinatra plays the charming Danny Ocean, infact there's not just Sinatra in town there's also Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin and Richard Conte. What more could you ask for? Ocean's Eleven isn't without it's flaws. However It's a great fun movie to watch. I even tip my hat to the remake, which was a very adequate remake.
It's hard to say how exactly Ben Affleck turned his career around, I think it might have been after he dumped Jennifer Lopez and they made that god awful movie Gigli together. Well, he sure did. He has become an incredibly successful director/actor combination. He penned the screenplay for Good Will Hunting with Matt Damon. For a long time I never thought this to be entirely accurate, however, I believe Affleck is the real deal. Especially after watching The Town. It's a heist movie for modern times. It's brilliant.
Michael Caine leads this comic caper as the charming brit Charlie Croker. He has this plan, a plan to steal some gold from the streets of Turin, using a few minnies and a gang of his friends to help him do it, I won't spoil it for you but it's a good slapstick movie with some very impressive driving scenes. I loved the ending too.
Point Break is one of those classic movies you watch when you're young and it just stays with you and every time you see it feels like the first time. Point Break is a movie that hasn't really aged badly at all, it's great. An in his prime Patrick Swayze and a young Keanu Reeves taking surfing to the extreme with a little heist along the way. Surfs up.
Ronin is completely bad ass, staring Robert De Niro and Jean Reno and helped by the great John Frankenheimer, quite hard to think that he made that dog shit of a movie The Island Of Dr. Moreau just a few years prior to making Ronin.
Inception is a classic, a brilliant heist movie set within the fabrics of a persons mind. It's a truly exceptional concept that really captivates you whilst you watch it, you can read my lovely review of inception here, if you'd like here
How could I not add this movie? an incredible movie staring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. The movie is charming and intelligent with playful charisma. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is rightfully hailed as probably one of the greatest westerns ever made. I know it's cheating a little but the move has so many amazing quotables and the script is full of witty dialogue not not mention some intense action scenes throughout the entire movie. A must see.
