Dawn of the Dead (2004)

Dawn of the dead

For me, Dawn Of The Dead is probably in my top 5 zombie movies of all time. It's kick ass with one of the coolest opening scenes of all time. The only thing I'd like about being caught up in a zombie movie is to be able to go run around a shopping mall and steal loads of shit. Such a total badass movie. A worthy addition to any zombie franchise!

28 Days Later

28 Days Later

Cillian Murphy wakes up in hospital not knowing where the hell he is or what just happened. He realises there's been an outbreak that's literally wiped out half the population and made the other half mindless zombies. They're not those slow types either, they're fast (the fast ones scare the shit out of me). This is the movie for me that really set Danny Boyle on the map.

Day Of The Dead (1985)

Day Of The Dead

One of the very first zombie movies I watched as a kid, George A. Romero managed to create such an awesome movie as well as keep something really fresh and original. A must see for all zombie lovers.

Shaun Of The Dead

Shaun Of The Dead

Noone had ever really made a fun zombie movie that was quite slapstick in nature yet still was quite frightening in places. I think Edgar Wright managed to create a really great hybrid crossover from fun comedy/zombie movie. It's definitely in my top 3. Simon Pegg is absolutely brilliant, him and Nick Frost work so well together on screen. If you're a fan of British humour, you should keep it on your radar!

Zombieland

Zombieland

I think Zombieland was America's version of Shaun Of The Dead. The comedy factor played a very key part in the movie. I loved Zombieland it was very endearing. Woody Harrelson played it perfectly along with Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin and Emma Stone. It's a movie that's definitely worth the repeat viewing.

Mutant Chronicles

Mutant Chronicles

Ok, I was unsure whether Mutant Chronicles was going to make it into the list because they're fucking MUTANTS and also it's quite an odd movie that isn't really that great. But for some reason I really liked it. Not to mention Ron Perlman is in the movie, so for me it had potential to be cool. Mutant Chronicles is a movie that I enjoyed, but won't be watched too often.

I Am Legend

I Am Legend

I Am Legend is pretty badass. Will Smith plays the role really well. I appreciate Will Smith as an actor, I think he is of high calibre! I Am Legend see's Robert Neville (Will Smith) as the last human on the planet. Unknown to him why, but he is the sole survivor. Or So he thinks, at least. Throughout the movie he's constantly plagued and tormented by creatures of the night.

Night Of The Living Dead (1968)

Night Of The Living Dead

This was the first feature length movie directed by George A Romero. The movie became a financial success after reaching $12 million at the domestically. I guess this is one of the few movies that truly paved the way for such amazing cult zombie movies that followed since then. Night Of The Living Dead isn't really that significant to me, but it's significant to cinema. I never really felt that drawn to the movie, however, appreciate it for the legacy that it's created.

Pet Sematary

Pet Sematary

I remember watching this movie as a young boy. It truly scared the shit out of me. It was one of them types of movies that used to wake me up in a cold sweat screaming at the top of my lungs after I'd watched it! An absolute classic that deserves to be on the list. I can't imagine it ever not being! The Pet Sematary franchise had a great followup sequal also, both worth checking out.
