Contact

Contact

Contact is badass and possibly one of the coolest Sci-Fi movies of all time! Jodie Foster is great in this movie. I remember first watching this movie and being blown away by how awesome it was. It has some genuinely great Sci-Fi moments and the story is brilliant. I have no idea why Contact is so underrated but it seems to be, nobody ever mentions it when they think of awesome Sci-Fi movies. Which is a massive shame.

K-PAX

K-PAX

K-PAX is brilliant, I think Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges are superb in K-PAX. It seems like a very underrated movie to me, the story is great and thrilling and the concept seems to be very well done. Everything about K-PAX just works! However, not many people seem to agree with me on this one, but what the hell do they know anyway? Prot is a patient in a mental hospital who claims to be an alien from a distant planet. His psychiatrist tries to help uncover the truth but starts to even doubt himself.

John-Q

John-Q

John-Q is another movie that has been hidden fairly well under the radar, I think Denzel Washington is probably one of the best actors of his generation and John-Q is acting at his finest. You believe everything he says and every motive he has, you sympathise with him wholeheartedly. A fathers insurance won't cover his sons heart transplant, so takes the hospital hostage until the doctors perform the much needed operation.

Murder in the First

Murder in the First

Acting chops galore. We have Oldman, Bacon and Slater in the same movie together. This movie is brilliant, it has an amazingly gripping story and the acting is unreal, I have no idea why Bacon didn't win an Academy Award for his portrayal of Henri Young. One of the best prison movies of all time. A young attorney defends an Alcatraz prisoner accused of murdering a fellow inmate.

The Fisher King

The Fisher King

Why doesn't anybody ever mention The Fisher King? It's a classic and has a truly great performance from Robin Williams. I haven't seen this movie in years and in my opinion is one of Terry Gilliams best movies, well they're all pretty great aren't they. A former radio DJ finds redemption in helping a homeless man who was an unwitting victim of his past mistakes.
